Hello. I’m an award winning visual designer specialising in motion graphics + animation + digital storytelling.
I’ve always been fascinated by how images help us make sense of the world & I use this passion to solve communication problems for the people I work with.
Blurring the lines between art + design, I combine beautiful visuals with emerging technology to make messages, stories & information more engaging & easier to understand.

I use over 15 years of creative industry experience to offer a bespoke design service. Developing initial ideas into polished visual content & digital storytelling experiences that connect with the right audience. People say my approach is highly creative, easy to navigate & produces quality results that have a powerful impact.
After an MA in Digital Film & Animation, I cut my teeth designing motion graphics for the music, fashion & entertainment industries in London. Creating visuals for the likes of Pet Shop Boys, Vivienne Westwood & Cirque Du Soleil. After 6 years, I moved to Glasgow to work on an ambitious online educational project for Twig World as well as lecturing Visual Communication at Abertay University.
From there my passion for visual storytelling led me to co-found & direct animation studio Playdead for 7 years. Highlights included winning several Royal Television Awards, being nominated for 2 Scottish BAFTAs & designing the titles for Oscar nominated documentary Virunga.
After taking some time out to travel, I then relocated to the Highlands of Scotland in 2018 & set up Jonny Harris Design. With the simple aim of working closely with clients to create beautiful visual content that captures imaginations & inspires audiences.
As well as design-led commissions, I also have an arts-led practice. Creating woodblock prints that explore themes of time, journey & connection to place through mapmaking. Follow for creative process.
